WIley Watson:
Watson is an amazing topside cinematographer and owner of Red Tide Pictures.
His recent spearfishing film debuted in Montauk Film Fest and he is helping to bring Spearfishing to the public eye.
His work speaks for itself and I hope to take a similar path in my career.
David OchoA:
I’m sure you’ve seen the work of David Ochoa. He has a similar marketing plan as you - creating premium spearfishing trips for clients and selling them with the videos created.
David Captures the whole experience in his stories - traveling to their remote locations, learning the local ways of life, the trials and tribulations of landing these beautiful fish and the comradery created along the way.
He isn’t just selling the trigger pull on a giant fish, he’s selling an entire lifestyle - one few will ever experience.
Shot List:
This kind of content is not just shot off the cuff, it takes lots of pre-production and a dedicated shot list to have everything needed in the edit.
-Establishing: draws you into adventure
-Action: fast paced, maintain composition
-Tight Shots: Bright colors, depth of field
-Kill Shots: showing the beauty in death
Storytelling:
The story that David tells is often the same - The Old Man and the Sea: Only after losing the fish of a lifetime does he realize it was not the fish he was truly after - The unknown, the suffering, the adventure.
Of course You and David often land the fish as well.
Distribution:
Long form video content will be great for youtube.
Vertical footage can be pulled for IG teaser Reels.
Some special moments that don’t make the films or your “How-To’s” can be used for IG subscriptions.
Branded narratives are very popular these days - Yeti, Patagonia, North Face.
A well done film can be used to entice a larger company to partner with Neritic.
This can be used to scale the operation to more remote locations and higher production value - better equipment, multiple cameramen, higher quality editing.
